The sound of his mother's voice woke him, her words lost in the fog of sleep but the tone familiar as his own hooves. Isengrim stirred in his soft bed of pine needles, snuffling in their earthy, sappy scent, and blinked large eyes open. His mother's pale muzzle, made huge with foreshortening, filled his vision; on seeing him awaken, she smiled warmly and closed the distance to lick him gently on the nose. Isengrim giggled and rolled over to prop himself up on his chest.
"Mama!" he protested, theatrically shaking his head and sending his ears flapping. "I'm too old for that!"
His mother smiled indulgently. "Of course, how could I forget that somebody turned three recently?" With the rotation of the seasons, Isengrim's third spring had come not long past as the days lengthened, and he had spared no effort in making sure that everyone and everything in their home r

I confess, this has been sketched ever since I conceived Isengrim, right at the start of February. And now with Lazy Nezumi I can actually lineart in a decent amount of time??? *sob* I mean I would love to illustrate his whole damn backstory, and though I think I might have to impose some restrictions on that I think I might actually be able to do quite a bit and THIS EXCITES ME. DRAWING AT A DECENT SPEEED OMG.
Now, forgive my pine forest slightly, but I'm really rather pleased with how it came out :'D Pretty sure this is the cheeriest Blackwood ever looks, and even then, it's not much. xDD BUT I LIKE LIGHTING. And good lord if baby Isengrim isn't the cutest lil' thing, amirite?
